Verse 1:
My ma was seventeen the day that she and pa got wed,
When I was ten, gosh, even then they were so nice!
Now and again, I sit beside 'em on their big 'ole bed,
And ma and pa are always full of good advice,
For instance;
Chorus:
Pa says, "Young folks should get married,"
Ma says, "Pa for once makes sense."
Ma says, "Sooner folks get started,
Sooner more young folks commence to grow."
So, years now, that's the dream I've carried,
Me with someone warm and sweet.
I say, "Young folks should get married,"
But they can't get married till they meet.
Verse 2:
So lately, I've been sort-a lookin' hard at ev'ry face,
Not ev'ry girl's cut out to be a rancher's wife.
There must be lots of girls who'd find a ranch a lovely place,
I think a rancher's wife could have a lovely life.
[Chorus]
